Supportive Solutions in Divorce Mediation

The most expedient and cost-effective way to divorce

About divorce mediation

What to expect from working together

We offer a highly structured, time limited mediation process which includes a series of 1 hour sessions. In the first session we will explain the process and the procedural steps necessary to turn the mediated agreement into a court order. Then, we will start the fact finding phase in which the mediator follows a list of issues that need to be resolved in order to reach a non-contested divorce, helping the parties negotiate a fair and equitable solution for each issue. Once a tentative agreement has been reached, we will put all the details into a written Memorandum of Understanding. You will then review the agreement and sign it. If you have an attorney, you can have your attorney review the agreement prior to signing it. The specifics contained in the Memorandum form the basis of the parties' court agreement and the terms of the agreement should be entered by the court in your final divorce decree.

Mediation is to:

  • Guide and facilitate communication between the parties in a neutral and objective way
  • Assist each party in identifying and clarifying his or her own interests, needs and concerns
  • Generate a range of options for exploration
  • Assist the parties in arriving at a mutually agreeable resolution of their issues
  • Divorce Mediator does not advocate for either party
